Gert Nyberg is the Coordinator of logo_56b. He holds a PhD Soil Science and has research interests in soil carbon and nutrient dynamics in tropical agroforestry, agriculture and forestry systems. He is also interested in issues related to land use change and land rehabilitation. He has experience from  from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso. Gert is working 50% of his time for the network and is based at Department of Forest Ecology and Management at SLU in Umeå. Johan Toborn is a Senior Advisor at the International Office of SLU. He is working 20% of his time for logo_56b as an ex-officio representative for the vice chancellor of SLU. He can be contacted at:

Heather Mackay Niittylä is the part-time Web Manager and Documentalist. Heather holds an MA in Geography from Aberdeen University, Scotland and an MSc in Rural Resources and Environmental Policy from Wye College at Imperial College, London. After graduating she spent two years in Ghana working on forest fires, forest conservation, agricultural development and natural resource management with local conservation and development NGOs. Returning to the UK, she worked as a Sustainable Livelihoods Project Manager for an international development consultancy wing of the well-known Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG) NGO, now known as Practical Action. Here she managed projects working in Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan, and undertook short-term assignments in Kenya and Nepal. She then went on to establish and coordinate an award-winning Community Woodland project in a deprived urban area of Norwich, England before traveling to California to work with an organisation providing healthcare for children in Tibet, then with a habitat restoration programme in the Palo Alto foothills of California. During her time in California she trained as a web manager and put her skills to use as a volunteer web manager with the Sierra Club's Palo Alto Chapter, Geographic Information Sub-Group. She joined the logo_56bteam in June 2009, bringing a balance of research knowledge, information management experience, and technical web design skills.
